I've got a question: if I purchased the online copy of the game, and created the Impulse account at the same time, is it normal that the game is pre-registered in it? I get the same error in trying to register my product. I also bought it at BestBuy. I only have one Impulse account. I have entered the code in correctly several times and it keeps telling me that product registration failed. EDIT: Submitted a ticket with support and the reply email says it may take up to two days to get a reply from support.
For what it's worth, I have the exact same problem. I don't see how a serial is DRM if the game is fully playable with or without it? I will however, answer this one. You yourself even stated that you cannot play online without a valid serial key, so how is the game fully playable without the serial? It isn't. And that, is a form of DRM.
Again, if you still have trouble understanding this point, try reading the topic again. TerriblePurpose TerriblePurpose Sorry, data for given user is currently unavailable. Posted April 21, A question: if one wanted to play Demigod only in single player - if they installed on an off-line rig and never connected it to the internet - could they play it? Or does it actually have to shake hands with the server before it will launch? So a few hundred thousand pirated copies of the game don't work fully while all the legit copies do The only problem here is that the pirated copies initially interfered with the legit customers playing experience.
The DRM, if there is any, was not the problem, the pirates were, and it was the enactment of a DRM-like change that fixed the issue so that the legit customers could play hassle-free. Holy crap DRM that actually works, who would have thought that was actually possible? I read a post from the guys at Stardock off their forums wish i had a link if i find it all edit in and they basically said that the problems people are haveing are infact problems that Stardock unfortunaltly created.
Yes the game has been pirated and yes people were having problems connecting to the servers for the multiplayer game. Stardock has already patched the problem which seems to have been some kind of http request to thier own servers looking for updates and they are dealing with the typical new launch problems. Just my thoughts though.
No offense, but you seem really confused about what DRM is. I know exactly what DRM is. It's a means for digitally managing rights. DRM takes many many forms. The fact that Demigod dials home and can then shunt particular versions of the game to specfic places is a sign of digitally managing rights -- it does not matter whose rights those are, what matters is that the game does it, despite it being billed as not having such a system, ie.
And with your other examples, how many of those dial home without your knowledge? Quoting xoda,. Did you buy new or used? Definately contact stardock support. Well I have the collector edition. But it would be wise to know what version you have. Collector or not? Welcome Guest! Please take the time to register with us.
