Initially the machine can reach the site but after awhile it comes back with 'connection has timed out. The machine is able to resolve the DNS for the website but pings come back 'request timed out. However, if I restart the computer everything works fine again for awhile and then the cycle starts over again. I wanted to see if anyone had any input on this because having the user restart their computer like once an hour is a nuisance.
And when this happens with the particular website, you are still able to ping and browse other sites? External site, other users do not experience this issue, patches are current, haven't tried the reset ie advanced options doing it now , have had no issues reaching other websites.
Also tried reaching the site by ip address and connection would still have the 'connection timed out' error. My initial thought was that not every site or device allows for pings but you said when you restart you are able to ping it for a bit and then it stops working. I assume this is a search for an answer for educational purposes because if the site can be accessed via the host name and just not by the IP address, in most cases you would want people using the host name anyway.
Also if it is an external site that you do not control your answer may just be that, you cannot control how they run their site.
